Another penalty saved by Norwich

We should have kill the game off

But still a healthy lead and fortunately we are still in control of the game |
Just hope those missed penalties doesn;t come to haunt us later and now the game is getting more feisty with robust challenges and red card is surely waiting for both sides
|
A much needed 3rd goal by AM to calm down the tension
And if this remained the same we will climb to 7th position!!!!! |
We are more organised and composed.
Hope the 1st teamers can get more game time together. 3pts in the bag.:) |
The team is improving and Martial back makes a difference. James is playing well.
Tim Krul is good at saving penalties with his clubs and Holland but I noticed he actually steps forward off the goal line to narrow the angle twice but the referee didn't spot it. |
BREAKING: Paul Pogba’s foot injury is set to keep him out until December. [Telegraph]
|
Quote:
Cos whenever he is fit, his name is almost certainly be in the first ELEVEN regardless of his form as OGS seems fearful to omit non-performing players |
Our devastating front 3 of MR, AM & DJ is quick and clinical in this match if they can keep up this form they will destroy the rest of the league’s defenses

OS needs to assess and cement the 1st team selection.
PP injury has given exposure and game time for the likes of Fred and AP. The former shows much improvement compared to earlier games. With the current lean squad, must say we perform well. Lets hope they can gel and improve further. |
With the Carabao Cup against Chelsea coming up
Hope it is not one step forward, three steps back. Chelsea improved alot after their 4-0 mauling by us. Pulisic scored a fine hat trick, left foot, right foot, header. We need to be more ruthless, and now who will be installed as the penalty taker after the misses????? |
The lads should remain focused and not get distracted by the media reports that we have found our solution to the front players. A match against a bottom club should, and never be used as a benchmark. OGS should still continue his push with the Board for Jan reinforcement rather then be led by false belief that we are ok.
We are far from being "okay" team to be in contention for top 4 position. Still believe are players are far from being physically fit considering the frequency of hamstring n muscle injuries. |
We had a good game but against Norwich cannot be used as a benchmark.
With the current players, very challenging to be in the top 4. All of us knew that certain positions needed new reinforcements and it is very hard to get the right player in Jan window. Rumor about us signing Mandruzki in Jan is only a short term measure, buy it might be one that is necessary. We cannot afford to have one of our front 3 injured (even if Greenwood is available, ole seems not keen to put him in) |
Cant based on winning a bottom tier team to determine we are better.
Evidently we saw an improved united won the match. And not because we had an easier match. And btw Norwich may be bottom tier but they have beaten Man City at 3-2. No match is easy except we are better with selection or formation to play our best. We need to look into reinforcement in the coming transfer window again. A striker, an attacking midfielder, and left back. Greenwood is like young MR who needs to build on mass and physique. |
what's wrong with Luke Shaw at left back with Brandon Williams waiting as cover ?
|
Luke Shaw was once considered one of the promising left back.
That was before he broke his leg. Now he is often on casualty list. I wonder can he still able to provide support in the long term. As for Williams, not seen him play yet. A good investment for rebuilding is seen good. |

First-choice left-back Shaw has been out of action since the third game of the season after suffering a hamstring injury He flew to Dubai last Tuesday to add some warm weather training to his rehabilitation. |
The issue I have with OGS is that whilst he is always preaching about giving the youngsters their game time, he had rarely done so, and only when injuries plagued the "older" players.
These youngsters need game time to improve, not when the chips are down and let them try to salvage the game. That is certainly asking way too much. Just compare Frank Lampard at Chelsea. Had Sarri still been the coach, we would not have seen Abraham or Mount or Hudson Odoi having so much game time. OGS should learn from Lampard to trust the youngsters and since we have been always saying the team is in a "rebuilding stage", why not? |
Lampard gambled his 1st match and lost badly against us 4nil.
He is lucky mount ,abraham and pulisic repaid him with great results at later matches. Well not saying our new lads are no good but maybe he felt not ready to take up the responsibilty as yet. I am hoping the transfer mkt to see good reinforcement for remaining season. |
With Luke Shaw's injury records I think we really need a good cover as once you have a history of injuries you tend to have them coming back at you as your muscles and bones became brittle and won't withstand a whole season without going back to the treatment room again and again.
Then again we have Young and Williams deputising for him so left back is not a very urgent position to fill yet unlike the other positions which are really crying out for reinforcements. |
If u keep thinking of buying players to fill this position, fill that position,
then in a way, u r preventing the younger players from stepping up. U think Jadon Sancho could be the player he is now if he had stayed at City ? Or even Kylian Mbappe if he hadn't got his breakthrough at Monaco ? Either u give youth a chance or u buy ur way through to your trophies Put it this way, at Man Utd, finishing second in the league, means we lose. At other clubs, say Wolves, Aston Villa or even Everton, if they are in 7th place like we are now, the papers would be saying they did well. Manage your expectations |
If we want to get into 4th position, we need quality reinforcement
If we want to give the youth a chance, then we do not look at the final position of the team when season ends. Of course, we must not fall into the last 3! If United needs changes, it is not the coach, but Woody must go, together with the owners. We have changed enough managers since 25 years of stability. |
MR scored two goals to help the team beats Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Ole has proven to be Lampard's nemesis till date by ending the blue team's winning run We must continue to build the momentum |
The free kick was wonderful.
Again, like I said when James brings the ball into the box, it is better than for him to cross, as at the speed he is going, any contact by the defenders will usually result in a penalty. Now back to the EPL |
If we continue to stay focused and not let our guards down, we can achieve better results. The 3 away wins within the week may be a great motivational factor, but hope the lads do not get too carried away.
All credit to MR for stepping up to take the penalty, and that free kick is really like a CR style. But towards the end, he seems to get a knock and lets hope it is not serious. But I thought OGS should get over the sarcasm about basketball. During the post match interview when questioned if MR was injured, again he said that this is football and players do get kicked unlike basketball |
MR goal for England helps him regains his confidence.

Where is Shaw and PP, how come injured so long? |
Quote:
Not sure abt Shaw |
Quote:
Jose had once questioned him about his thresh-hold for pain cos of his frequent injuries (altho we can sympathise with him for the horrific broken leg he suffered in 2015 which probably he has not fully overcome, more psychological then physical otherwise he would have hung up his boots). His current injury was caused during the match with Crystal Palace (hamstring) in August and was expected to be out for at least 5 weeks. It is now into the 10th week (and counting) and still no sign of "recovery" |
Current Injury List
Pogba - since end of Sept with ankle injury and not due back till Dec
Shaw - since Aug with hamstring. Supposed to be out for 5 weeks but still not fully recovered altho OGS said he is back at training Tuanzebe - injured his hip during warm up for the Liverpool game. No date given when he could return Matic - honestly I don't care (haha) Dalot - since 6th October vs Newcastle. No update on extend of injury Bailly - since late April after match with Chelsea. Apparently serious knee injury that required surgery, End of the year is current target as no sign of him on training ground Fosu-Mensah - long term knee injury whilst out on loan at Fulham but seen at training ground though no date set for his return |
At least now at left back we can see a youngster BW, Young can retire leow
|
Chong has yet to sign new contract and we will risk losing him by end of the year. Juventus closing in on him.
He is apparently frustrated on the lack of chances to play. |
