Geopagus sp. Tapajos "Orange head"

Scientific Name: Geophagus sp. "Tapajos Orange Head"

Size :25 cm/10 inches

PH : 6

Habitat : Rio Tapajos, South America

Temp : 25-28 c/78 f

Food : Carnivore, frozen foods, bloodworm.

Tank: 350 liters/95 gallons minimum with fine sand and lots of roots.

Gender Differences : Monomorphic

Breeding : Biparental Mouthbrooder. Substate spawner/mouth brooder

Temperament : Peaceful

Conspecific Temperament : Mildly Aggressive

Water Hardness : Soft

Comments:A very colorful Geophagus and great for the beginner. As with most 'Geos', rowdy tankmates should be avoided. This species is is a delayed ovophilous mouthbrooder. In some circumstances, the male will not share in brood care.

Solid looking fishes....even juvenile ones without the red head displays a prominent black spot....really something...

me too found them very nice when first seen in Taipei LFS....brought them at impulse...handcarry back...& from that these are very common here...
