to improve water circulation

Hi there,

I have a 4x2x2 planted tank and would like to improve the water circulation.
At the same time co2 could be better distributed throughout the tank. Pls advise on which equip. I can use to achieve this. Thanks.

Hi there,
I am oso have a 422 and am very pleased with my water circulation.
I am using a atman 1200 canister which was connected to my CO2 diffuser, the outlet of the diffuser was located near the bottom of the tank and with the output pointing to the back wall of the tank, find that this creates a stronger current.
The inlet of the canister was situated near the surface of the tank cos it helps me to take in anything that flaots on the surface.
I added a SUNSUN 3000 wave maker to my tank and situate it near the center of the tank.
Hope of use to you.

Hi, thanks for the advise. I have never tried facing the canister outlet to the back of the tank will will give it a try. Would it be better to place this outlet towards the base of the tank or towards the top. As for the wave maker, you locate it at the center of the tank and may I know you mean the breadth of the tank? I got a sunsun wavemaker too but got a wrong one which has 2 propellers and is super strong. So didn't use it.

By facing the outlet of the canister facing back of the tank, it will reduce the full flowrate output that will cause the water in the tank to go in a circular motion. It will make the output like wave motion... Which is better for a planted tank...

Cheers...

try a inline Co2 diffuser whereby the the Co2 gets diffuse into the water. but personally i like seeing the Co2 bubbles in action being diffused into the water :p

use a co2 reactor and have an additional pump to circulate the water

check Evo's thread. he's using a wavemaker for circulation.

i think install an internal power head

Be wary of the wavemaker/internal power head increasing tank water temperature.

my 422 is having very good circulation. almost no dead spot except for those areas behind wood or stones. even there, can see the plants moving slight in the little waves of the plant. realised that lily pipes works in this case. i angled it 45degree towards the front. running a ehiem 2250 canister so everything seems well.

an external Co2 reactor will do good to the overall Co2 distribution. but realised if you have good water cirulation, just a good diffusor within tank will work as well. ;)
